- To provide engineering professionals an exchange of knowledge and points of view, and to give a debate, between engineers, university professors, researchers, entrepreneurial agents and other people involved in engineering. This exchange must facilitate the discussion on ethics, human values and social impact in engineering.
- To distinguish and to motivate the tasks in different areas, related to the understanding of engineering, the engineer’s task in the society and the role of engineering in the human aspect of sustainability.
- To analyze education in values in science and engineering in places such as Europe, Latinamerica… To support the development of efficient systems in order to make engineering students recognise the human part of technology and obtain a more global view of engineering. To favour in students the growth of suitable attitudes in the exercise of engineering (critical reflection, coherence, dedication, rationality in affective implications…).
- To spread the master lines of the correlation between engineering and the current phenomena that are rooted in society such as, among others, the "no" culture, the dominance of immediate things –opposite to long term things- in the decision-making, the influence of current communication and information technologies in social relationships or the lack of scientific vocations amongst youth.
- To spread and scatter amongst citizenship the actions developed from science, technology and engineering in order to reach a meditated and responsible use of resources.
- To stimulate and increase the function that, with the use of technology, can be obtained in engineering when giving a boost to the fight against corruption.
- To encourage engineering professionals to make a major use of technology in order to arouse the generation of goods and services with the goal of accessibility.
- To go into depth, extend and increase when talking about aspects related to ethics in scientific and technological investigation and to a professional deontology in the practice of engineering.
- To spread the master lines of the life, work and ideas of outstanding and model engineers as for human values in engineering.
