World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and UPC – Endesa RED Victoriano Muñoz Oms Chair on Human Values in Engineering (VMO) are preparing for March 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2010 an outstanding request: II International Conference on Ethics and Human Values in Engineering. This Conference, to be held in Barcelona, is outstanding for different reasons: the topics that will be dealt with –current and future topics, significant in and out the profession-, the organisers and the speakers that will take part in the Congress.
WFEO is the biggest engineers' association all around the world. It gathers more than eighty entities that represent more than twenty milion of engineers. Its headquarters are in Paris, at UNESCO building. Since its establishment, WFEO has favoured an engineering for peace and welfare, promoting exchange and cooperation. Today, WFEO works for sustainable human development and watches over engineering's role in today's and future's world. Its associate, the corporate Chair VMO, is exemplary for the fruitful connection between university and enterprises. Furthermore, it is and incentive that a corporation like ENDESA Red, that represents the Chair VMO, supports the attention to human values in engineering, which is much more than specific technological interests.
Speakers constitute a first class panel. Firstly, the former President of WFEO, Barry Grear, and the WFEO President, María Jesús Prieto, who will also preside the Conference. She is the first woman to hold this position. The presence of both these figures guarantees the possibility of visualizing a global overview of engineering from prominent observatories. Spanish high Board Members of leading companies in technological areas will also take part in the Conference. They will bring new complementary ideas and approaches, facilitating a rich multicolored perspective.
There will be much more. Anybody who attends the Conference, will hear intelligent and experienced professionals presenting outstanding matters and will be able to ask, debate, talk... Information exchange, ideas and opinions will flow under a warm and close atmsophere.
