UPC-ENDESA Red "Victoriano Muñoz Oms" Chair of Human Values in Engineering

The Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) has a Chair sponsored by Endesa Red, society of the leading corporation in the Spanish electric market, and takes the name of the engineer Victoriano Muñoz Oms (VMO). Since its establishment, the VMO Chair has worked –in and out university- in the study and the spreading of Victoriano Muñoz Oms's life and work. Furthermore, the Chair is engaged in the development of a group of activities related to the study and promotion of human values, the suitable personal attitudes and ethics in engineering. These elements were fundamental in Victoriano Muñoz Oms's professional activity.

The latest years, the Chair has been working in the development of studies and activities about training in values in engineering and about the binomial engineering-society. Nowadays, many voices claim that training in values and attitudes must be a significant part in engineers' preparation. This argument is reinforced by the presence of values and attitudes in the real practice of engineering in science and technology activities, paying special attention to its human and social impact.
