
The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) is a non-profit organization that gathers engineering organizations from more than eighty countries and represents more than 20 milions professionals. Established with the help of the UNESCO, its opening meeting was held in this organization's headquarters in Paris in 1968.
The WFEO's supreme management organization is the General Assembly that meets every two years. The President of the WFEO is María Jesús Prieto Laffargue, former president of the Spanish Instituto de Ingeniería de España, that belongs to the UPC – Endesa Red Victoriano Muñoz Oms Chair on Human Values Advisory Council. The Spanish Instituto de Ingeniería de España –the Spanish entity in WFEO- gathers engineering associations from different areas, and includes more than one hundred thousand professionals in Spain.
As international members and/or associates of WFEO we find, among others, the following: Commonwealth Engineers' Council (CEC), European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI), Federation of African Organizations of Engineers (FAOE), Federation of Arab Engineers, Regional Council of Coordination (RCC), Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations (USEA), ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE), Société Européenne pour la Formation des Ingénieurs (SEFI), Federal Council of Engineering, Architecture and Agronomics (CONFEA) and Internationale Gesellschaft fur Ingenieurpadagogik. The Endesa Red Victoriano Muñoz Oms Chair is also and associate entity.
The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) is committed with the search of benefits for humanity throuhgout the advance of the professional exercise of engineering all around the world. The WFEO collaborates in the exchange and transfer of technology between countries, promotes the social comprehensions of engineering, encourages the qualilty in engineers' training and gives a boost to ethics in the practice of engineering.
In our current globalized world, the WFEO has a special sensibility towards the necessities of underdeveloped countries. In view of social, economic and environmental challenges, the WFEO encourages its members to take part in the global effort that is carried out in order to achieve a world in peace, fair and provided with a sustainable development.
